School is back in session, the days are getting shorter, and my backyard is even beginning to show signs of leaf accumulation. Sure, summer isn’t officially over until September 22 but, for all intents and purposes…it’s over. September is weird that way ya know? it’s like the “no man’s land” of the calendar year. October has Halloween, November has Thanksgiving, December has Christmas, Chanukah, and New Year’s Eve, January is the New Year and has Martin Luther King Day, February has Valentine’s Day (important to remember fellas), The Super Bowl (important to remember ladies), and International Condom Day – honestly…I didn’t make that up…it exists…same day as Valentine’s Day…go figure – Anyway, March has Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, the beginning of spring, and sometimes Easter and Passover, April has Easter and Passover (most of the time)…and my birthday (I’m just sayin’), May has Cinco De Mayo, Mother’s Day, and Memorial Day, June has Father’s Day, the end of school, and is the first full month of summer, July has Independence Day and is the “sweet spot” of summer…and has my wife’s birthday (again…I’m just sayin’), and August…while not having any real holidays to speak of, is still a solid summer month. But September…well, there is Labor Day but…that really just marks the summers end and the beginning of school for the youngsters and teachers alike (although, I suppose to many parents, that’s a holiday all unto itself). But for many, it just seems to be the “in between period” from summer to fall. It’s cool though, October will be here soon and, truth be told, I like to use this time to plan all my upcoming Halloween activities. So…Happy September!!
It's A Wrap...
