Summer 2012 is a wrap – we ended it where we began it…at The Princeton. And in the same manner…with what has become a tradition at the beginning and end of each summer…a band/crew shot (we even get Dave and Scott to partake in a bit of the ol’ Rowdy Juice). As it has for most of my adult life, the summer came and went so fast that I don’t feel like I ever really settled into it – and I know I say it every year but, damn-it…time really does seem to go by faster and faster with every flip of the calendar. On the positive side, nothing is ever as far away as it seems – for instance, if you’re the type to suffer from post-holiday-blues (for me November 1st is always a downer), it’s important to remember that your favorite time-of-year will be rollin’ around again before you know it…in fact, probably before you’re even ready for it. On the negative side, (if you’re like me anyway) you never feel like you took full advantage of the time that has just slipped away. I dunno…I guess the lesson is to live in the moment and without regret as much as possible – easier said than done…but something to strive for I guess. Anyway, we’re getting into my favorite time-of-year now and, to get in the mood, the Wife and I made our first trip to the Halloween store yesterday for some reconnaissance and preliminary party-shopping. The plan is to step-up our game this year (as it is every year), increase the number of party guests (my parents will be in from Arizona), keep our well deserved reputation as the coolest house in the neighborhood to trick-or-treat at, and, hopefully, lessen that feeling on November 1st that I didn’t get as much fun out of the season as I could have. How’s that for living in the moment? It’s ON!!
